‘No need for mayor to resign’

SHIMLA: Realizing that Shimla mayor Madhu Sood may have created a difficult situation for Congress by submitting her resignation, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee chief Kaul Singh on Saturday said that there was no need to accept her resignation as she was innocent on the U-turn she had taken on the housing project of Bemloe Developers at Kanlog. He said Sood had given him aback-dated letter mentioning her wish to resign as mayor, along with herresignation from the post at Chandigarh on Friday. "However, the party sees noreason for accepting her resignation as she was forced by the state governmentto sign the statement of her reported U-turn on the allegations she had madeearlier," he alleged.
